A revolutionary looking rug from the Erased Heritage collection by Jan Kath, The Kirman Robson Artwork 19, is now on exposition to view at Galerie SORS. Combining old and new traditions of rug making in a way that has never been done before, Erased Heritage collection is a step back to the roots and a step farward for Jan Kath's trademark alienation effects. Inspired by ancient oriental patterns, techniques, and standards of quality, Jan Kath brings to life Egyptian mamluks, Iranian bigjars and Turkish konyas by creatively erasing their parts and adding original colors. Each rug is handknoted from Tibetan Highlands wool, one of the highest quality and most rebust, and silk, exposing a stunning contrast in color, brilliance and texture.
