We have all had this feeling before… The feeling that leaves us wondering how great things happen? How did something you had no knowledge of, nor control over pan out so perfectly for you? The truth is that sometimes you're just at the right place at the right time. Our most recent experience of this feeling came in the form of the Georgia O’Keeffe retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France. This is the first ever retrospective of the internationally acclaimed artist in France, and it was scheduled to happen here in our home town of Paris!

Opened since September 8th, we finally got around to visiting the exhibition at the end of October, and by then the show was still selling out every day (which is no surprise given the breath of the retrospective). The exhibition spans from O’Keeffe’s early work and very first exhibition at 291 Gallery in 1916, to her famous flower paintings that solidified her status as a leading artist of the 20th century. The exhibition concludes with her “hard edge” abstract paintings, a direction she took up towards the end of her career, mainly depicting the desert and skies surrounding her home in New Mexico.

The exhibition is running until December 6, 2021 at Centre Pompidou so if you find yourself in Paris, we highly recommend booking your ticket in Paris, France. This is the ticket and visiting the exhibition. If you find yourself unable to visit in person there is an official Podcast in French. Perhaps a great opportunity to dust off your language skills in time for your next visit to the city of light?
